Optical-Parts Pollution Precautions
Installation Requirements
  • As shown in Figure1, do not remove the rubber plug from an optical module before inserting a fiber connector into the optical module.

  • As shown in Figure2, do not remove the protective sleeve from an optical fiber before inserting the optical fiber into an optical module.

  • As shown in Figure3, hold the optical fiber connector correctly to avoid polluting the connector.

Interconnection Requirements
  • During the interconnection between an optical fiber and an optical module, if their rubber plug or protective sleeve is removed and they will not be interconnected soon, install the rubber plug and protective sleeve as soon as possible to avoid exposure to dust without protection.

  • Once an optical module or optical fiber is exposed to dust for a long time, you need to clean it again.

  • To void troubleshooting and maintenance troubles, the power ports and optical ports of the P-bridge are arranged in groups. Each power port has its corresponding optical ports.

Cleaning
Optical Module

Tool: portable fiber/optical module cleaning pen (for engineering use).

  1. Insert the cleaning rod into the TX/RX end face of the optical module (the cleaning rod is just in contact with the end face of the module).

  2. Press the pen body and you will hear a tape drive sound, which indicates that the end face is cleaned once. It is recommended that you clean each end face 2 or 3 times.

Notice

When cleaning an end face, to prevent irreversible damage to the end face of the optical module or the internal optical fiber adapter, do not shake the cleaning pen.

Optical Fiber
Note

After cleaning the end face of the module and before testing the transmit optical power, you need to clean the end face of the optical fiber to be tested by an optical power meter.

Tool: fiber optic cassette cleaner and cleanroom wiper.

  1. Press the end face of the optical fiber vertically against the cleaner or wiper.

  2. Move the end face of the optical fiber in the same direction two or three times.

Notice

To avoid damaging the end face of the optical fiber, do not move it in different directions.
